Congratulations!
Having a baby is one of the most important events in your life. While many new mums focus on the delivery side of birth, it is also really important to get a good start as parents, getting support with breastfeeding and caring for your baby. The role of the midwife in this, is pivotal in supporting this transition to being a family. Midwives provide guidance and support to women and their families from conception to 4-6 weeks following delivery. I am very experienced in supporting and dealing with the wide range of issues that arise over this period.
I enjoy working with women and their partners. Whether you are looking for a natural unmedicated birth, or have complications that require more intervention, I have the skills to assist you in this transition. I also know how to look after myself, ensuring that you get the best service I can provide.
I am based in the central part of Wellington, and provide the full range of care.
I am a New Zealand trained midwife of 20 years and also an Australian trained Registered Nurse since 1996. I've provided LMC midwifery care for Wellington women since 2000. I have also worked as a midwife in the major teritary maternity hospital in Melbourne for six years, throughout many areas of womens health. For two years I was also a Maternity Nurse in Dublin so have learned some settling tips along the way. Seven years ago I returned to New Zealand to practice midwifery, as I believe we have one of the worlds best systems of midwifery care.
I work in a practice that supports each other for weekends off and should I be caught with two women at once.
These are experienced midwives with decades of experience.
